Witt Wittmann was born and reared in Lake City, South Carolina and as
she says, “proud of it.” She received her B.A. degree from the
University of South Carolina and has been teaching school ever since.
She is now teaching English at Lancaster High School. Wittmann is the
recipient of the James A. Rogers Creative Writing Award. As well as
raising chickens, flowers, and herbs for fun, Witt is also a skilled
craftsman in the art of tatting and is a member of the South Carolina
Artisans Center. One of her pieces, a tatted lace doily, was selected
by the South Carolina State Museum to be a part of their Traveling Art
Exhibition, which tours around the state. Wittmann has published two
books, Musing at La Poulaille and TatWitt: What I Learned When I Learned
to Tat. Musing at La Poulaille is a book of poems that chronicles the
adventures of raising chickens for the first time. It is an amusing book
of poultry poetry. TatWitt is an inspirational book on the lessons in
life that she learned as she taught herself how to tat. Wittmann’s
literary works are peppered with witticisms, sometimes seasoned with
saltiness and a pinch of poignancy. You may contact Wittmann at
wittsc@virtual1.net if you are interested in tatting or chickens.

"Musing at La Poulaille is a chicken lover's delight. An interesting
take on the lives of chickens and their owners. The poetry is humorous,
some poignant, and just a fun read."

"Musing at La Poulaille is original and down-to earth poetry that
would've had Carl Sandburg yelling for more!"

- J. Lavene, author of the Sharyn Howard mystery series

"Poultry in motion ...the poetry is great and worth a Pullet
Surprise...the real thing...."

-Richard Lederer, author of Anguished English
