Regular monthly meeting to be held Tuesday, March 16th at the Union County Arts Council Building in downtown Monroe.

Meetings are from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  Everyone is welcome to attend. 

 

This month please bring a selection of your work, or the work of your favorite author to share with the group.

We will also discuss participation in the Arts Walk scheduled for the weekend of April 16th in downtown Monroe.

 

The Anson County Writer's Club is having its' 2nd Annual Carolina Writers Conference on April 17, 2010

a garden, preparing the soil, seed selection

and planting, weed and pest control,

and anything else that will lead to

a bountiful crop.

FREE starter packets

of vegetable seeds will be given to the

first 25 people to arrive at this program.

use Ancestry.com to search the U.S.

Census! First

you'll get help

looking for your

ancestors.

Joy Lost...and Found

Monroe resident Joy Brown will talk

about her autobiographical novel,

Joy

Lost…and Found

. The early death of

both parents, a shattered childhood, a

broken heart, an orphanage upbringing,

and the living death of alcoholism

shape the backdrop for this inspiring

story of triumph over tragedy. This

book is a testament to the divine spark

The James Miller Camp of the Sons

of the Confederate Veterans presents

Greg Mast, Author of

State Troops

and Volunteers: A Photographic

Record of North Carolina's Civil War

Soldiers

Mast will feature "Tarheels in Color",

ambrotypes that have been colorized,

with a special emphasis on Union

County's boys in gray. There will be

mystery images of unidentified soldiers

—maybe you can help? And if you

have any photos of your Confederate

ancestors, Mast would love to

scan them for a future volume, so

plan to bring those. Need more

UCWC has had a busy few months. Speakers at our recent meetings have included Joy Rorie, award winning poet, and Dr. Bill Fleming, who spoke to the club about oral presentation of prose and poetry.  Grace Fleming gave a presentation about her fantasy novel The Travels of Fiere.
Linda Evans spoke to the club about writing winning query letters. Her new mystery novel, Talented Horsewoman, has just been published by Draumr Publishing.
