BARBARA JOHNS is a 1984 graduate of Stanly Community College and is employed by Union County Schools in Monroe. She has written four books: "Lost In Hypnagogia" (dream poetry and images); "Homeground, Civil War Memories of Chesterfield, SC"; "North Carolina’s Ghostly Visitors", "Poet Lines Cafe"(poetry) and is currently working on a murder mystery. She is also collecting tales for two other ghost story books: ("Stanly County Ghosts" and "Strange Happening In The Carolinas"). She thinks storytelling is an art that should not be forgotten. Barbara grew up in Albemarle, but moved to Concord at an early age. She moved back to Albemarle in 1987, then relocated to Monroe in 1990. At an early age, Johns enjoyed reading articles by Fred Morgan and listening to folklore told by her grandmother. She has been a member of Union County Writers’ Club for eight years, where she held offices as President, Vice-president, and Secretary-Treasurer. Her work has been published in The Enquirer Journal, Journal Patriot and Scripts and Scribes. She does programs for schools and nursing homes. |
